Mounting NAS storage to Unifi Video NVR

May 22, 2017

A built-in Ubiquity NVR 500GB hard disc drive often does not have enough capacity for recording several cameras in good resolution. A good solution is to use NAS as a storage (for example: WD Cloud Ex2). But the Unifi Video can't save records directly to the storage, you must first mount it. How to do it?

1. Create a shared folder on the NAS and activate the NFS protocol for it. Set share name - "Video".

2. Using the Webmin is the easiest way to mount network resources. To install Webmin on NVR, execute the following commands in the SSH console:

    wget https://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/webadmin/webmin/1.840/webmin_1.840_all.deb
    dpkg -i webmin_1.840_all.deb
    apt-get -f install
*** note – this will install the missing items from the failed line above.
    dpkg -i webmin_1.840_all.deb

3. Log to Webmin and add mount (nfs) with path - "/mnt/videos".

Mount options:

4. Set recording path in NVR settings Unifi Video - "/mnt/videos" and press "Save".
